Coco Models Take A Look At Fashion History
Michelle Obama has donated her inaugural gown to the Smithsonian National Museum of History in Washington D.C. The dress was designed by fashion newcomer Jason Wu who has just showed his Irving Penn inspired Fall 2010 collection in New York Fashion Week. Michelle Obama has said that, "This gown is a masterpiece. It is simple, it's elegant, and it comes from this brilliant mind." What an amazing honour for the young fashion designer to have a piece in such a historical museum before the age of 28. The dress will be part of a showcase at the museum of eleven inaugural dresses. The collection of dresses began with Mamie Eisenhower, who became first lady in the 1950s. Even though every first lady since 1912 has donated something to the Smithsonian, not all of them could part with their inaugural dress.

Coco Models Takes A Look At Alexander McQueen's Final Collection
Alexander McQueen's final Fall 2010 RTW Collection was shown earlier this week. His collection, which was shown during Paris Fashion Week, was a quiet and dignified affair, as it was only shown by appointment for small groups of editors. This provides a time for those who knew him intimately to reflect on all he had accomplished. The 16 pieces in his fall collection where 80% finished when McQueen passed away. The collection uses similar elements such as the head pieces, from his earlier collections and really reflect how far he had come as a designer and a craftsman.
The collection was inspired by the Dark Ages and the medieval period of art. He used digitally printed fabric with images of angels and demons, which were painted in churches during this time period. He intricately combined these image prints with jacquard prints and red silk which creates a very rich combination. It is a combination of draped and heavily crafted garments that embrace the skill that McQueen had acquired throughout the years. Even though the construction is far from simple, he has given the garments a sense of simple elegance, which is the spirit of the medieval time he had been studying.
The most incredible piece of the collection is the final piece. The dress has a high collared cut away jacket that was made entirely of golden feathers with an incredible embroidered layered white tulle skirt. It is a shame that this is the last collection that this incredible designer will show.

Coco Models Admires The Style Evolution OF Sandra Bullock
A look back at the actress’s transformation from award innocent and confused to this year’s Oscars winning actress. We look back at Sandra Bullock’s transformation on the red carpet.
1. Wearing a pink mini dress at the LA premier of “Speed” in 1994.
2. Rocking a bedazzled acid washed jacket in the late 90’s
3. Attended the 76th Academy awards in 2004, wearing a girly feathered dress from Oscar De La Renta
4. Sandra took a huge risk wearing a multi coloured strapless cocktail dress to the “All about Steve” LA premier in 2009
5. The Oscar Award winning actress wore a beautiful metallic Marchesa gown at this year’s 82nd Academy awards.
Coco Model's Take On The HOLLYWOOD PROM
It was a historical night for The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow who won best director, and became the first women ever to hold that distinction. The Hurt Locker also beat out Avatar and took home best picture. Other winners of the evening were Sandra Bullock for Best Actress, Jeff Bridges for Best Actor, Christopher Waltz for Best Supporting Actor and Mo’nique for best Supporting Actress.
One of the best quotes from the Annual Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, “It’s like Hollywood prom” said by Precious star Gabourey Sibide. Like any prom the Oscars are the night for Hollywood style. The night was filled with many great dresses and tuxes as most stars played it safe, or used a stylist.
My top five picks for this years red carpet is Cameron Diaz, who stunned us all in a gold Oscar de la Renta gown, Meryl Streep looked glamorous in a white Chris March dress, Carey Mulligan in a black Prada, Rachel McAdams in a flowing Elie Saab dress and Kate Winslet in Yves St. Laurent.
The very respectable runners- up of the night had to be Tina Fey, in Michael Kors, Anna Kendrick, in Elie Saab Haute Couture, Demi Moore, in Atelier Versace , and Amanda Seyfried and Jennifer Lopez, both in Armani Privé.
One of the questionable fashion decisions of the evening was the Marchesa dress worn by Vera Farmiga. It looked like she had been swallowed by pink ruffles. Charlize Theron wore a light purple dress with awkward rosebud swirls over the bust by Christian Dior that was designed uniquely for her. Zoe Saldana who is usually a red carpet superstar wore a Givenchy gown that did not work the red carpet or the runway.
